Todd Hido

Another photographer whose work I've fallen in love with is Todd Hido. He creates the most amazing painterly landscape photographs but the ones I love the most are the photos he takes of houses at night. They are eerie and mysterious and have the most beautiful light. You are looking at someone's home but you don't actually get to see inside so you find yourself wondering about the people who live there. In fact all of his photos have this mysterious quality, they never give too much away so you find yourself imagining your own story around the photos.

What I most admire about his photos is the amazing quality of light. The series of photos of house interiors are of extremely ordinary almost boring empty spaces but when he photographs the way the light falls on a wall or bed it becomes fascinating.

This has turned into pretty long post, but its very hard to choose just a few images to include! I'd recommend looking at his website to see his landscape and portrait photos and if you're interested in how he creates these photos there's a really good video below.

The light is gorgeous in all of these--and all those images with the snow are stunning too.
