Envelope Art

Who knew a collection of envelopes (or rather photographs of envelopes) could be so beautiful. Artist and photographer Andrew Bush plays with the idea of trompe l'oeil, the idea that you might be convinced that the framed photos are actually real envelopes. He also draws our attention to the dying art of letter writing in this age of electronic communication. Each envelope is photographed and framed with particular attention to its colour, shape, size and character and is beautifully complimented by a second hand frame. Individually each one tells its own story, together they build up a beautiful tapestry of colour and pattern.

You may also want to have a look at the other 'collections' in his series Public Disclosures/Private Withholdings.
